Due to continuous success and growth in the market, our Client who are a leading Independent Connection Provider (ICP) are recruiting an Electrical Estimators to join their current team of Pre-Construction Designers in Sheffield.
Typical duties
- Evaluate customers enquiry and demonstrate a clear interpretation of technical specification, understanding of the scope of works in order to produce the most cost effective and best engineering multi utility solution compliant with relevant IGT/GT/IDNO/DNO specifications
- Work collaboratively with Sales team to ascertain any further clarifications on scope of works and customers’ expectations, to ensure an estimate is provided in advance of customer expectation
- Application of POC requests to the DNO/IDNO
- Uploading of documentation within project management system and maintenance/version controlling of documents
- Determine the best engineering electrical route for both HV/LV, to create an electric design, complaint with DNO/INDO specifications for a variety of work type. Such as: Residential developments, Industrial & Commercial, High Rise buildings, EV I&C & Residential
- Tailor each design as per the requirements of the customer and in line with network policy, determining cable specification/sizing calculations, vault drops, HV/LV electrical network design solutions, specialist equipment required
- Design/plan LV/HV solutions for infrastructure and substation design
- Assess risks, methodology of delivery and engineering difficulties when creating the proposed design, ensuring the design is complaint with safety, and current DNO/IDNO policy
- Liaise and build relationships with our asset partners to obtain information on network and their requirements to better understand the requirements ahead of the design
- Liaise with internal procurement teams or external providers to obtain bespoke costs and manufacturing for specialist electrical equipment
- Work together with the design team to create a Multi Utility design proposal for the client incorporating Gas, Water, Electricity and Fibre where required, providing a clear route of infrastructure
- Using a set of rates, create an estimate of costs to deliver the proposed design and present these in a formal bid paper
- Work together with Operations and Sales, participating in internal meetings to discuss costs, and design proposal ahead of bid sign off
- Prepare a formal quotation offer including all technical specifications of the design to present to our Sales team to deliver to the customer
- Management of own workload and priorities, ensuring costs and bid proposals are prepared and submitted in advance of the customers expected date
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders throughout the life cycle of a project
- Support following acceptance of a customer’s order participating in a design handover to Operations to talk through original design proposal and requirements and any further adjustments to the design and cost
Candidate requirements
- Minimum 3 years’ experience designing LV/HV electrical networks
- Good knowledge and understanding of industry with experience working with/to DNO/IDNO specifications, including G81
- Understanding of the NERS requirements, and either working to these requirements or qualified at this level
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Self-starter and self-motivator with ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- High attention to detail and ability to analyse complex plans and technical detail
- Has initiative, motivation and a passion for delivering Customer Excellence
- Be adaptable to coordinate Gas and Water in addition to Electric to offer a Multi Utility solution
