The Client

Our client is a leading Manufacturer based in the United Kingdom.

They have manufacturing, warehousing and distribution facilities in 22 countries on four continents and backed by a larger Group in the US.

This role will be working for one of the four companies you will be supporting the UK Country Manager and this position requires traveling, in the UK and some within Europe.

You will interface with Sales, Marketing and Product Management, Technical Solutions, support personnel to maximise market presence and penetration.

The Opportunity

For this position, primarily you will be responsible for the development and execution of short and long term strategic sales plans to grow the UK and Irish region. You will also have a dotted line to the VP of Sales for Europe.

Key responsibilities:

 

  • Responsible for effective development and execution of the sales plans, achievement of sales targets as well as applicable market monitoring, analysis, and reporting.
  • Implement the “go to market” strategy, using local companies and/or service companies as sales channel.
  • Professionally develop and/or deepen relationships with new business in existing multinational customers.
  • Plan and direct business activities to exceed regional bookings and sales goals. Understand the needs of end users and use the right tools.
  • Partner with sales and marketing in establishing product mix strategies to achieve optimal sales and margin targets for the portfolio of products including value added products.
  • Work closely with Marketing to execute marketing campaigns, ensure distribution of marketing and advertising materials to meet the business needs and support in the development of the trade show strategy to ensures achievement of maximum results.
  • Attend customer events at sporting events and football venues.
  • Work closely with the country manager in order to launch new products and ensuring projected sales targets are achieved.
  • An in-house commercial expert is available to support this person with product knowledge and technical questions.
  • Coordinate with the Sales team and Manufacturing in the development of accurate sales forecasts and inventory control.
  • Work with the indirect network through the establishment of strategic growth initiatives, performance criteria and targets, scorecard, and feedback/reward systems.
  • Work with technical staff in the development of a training strategy designed to continuously improve technical sales/application skills.
  • Collaborates with the company’s indirect network, other companies and outside resources in the development of sales tools and strategic selling strategies designed to enhance, repeat, and grow the customer experience.
  • Partners with sales and marketing personnel in establishing product mix strategies to achieve optimal sales and margin targets for the portfolio of products including value added products.
  • Proactively partner with the team to identify and develop additional business opportunities for new products/new categories/new customers through effective collaboration with R&D/Technical Solutions, Marketing, Product Management, and Manufacturing.
  • Work closely with Marketing on branding as a quality supplier in all of our business categories to support a future pipeline of new business and continuously enhance product and service reputation.
  • Drives growth through market share expansion and increased volumes by effectively utilising the strength of the portfolio by selling solutions and creating repeatable sales opportunities.
  • Monthly sales reporting to the business leader and frequent communication.

The Candidate:

The successful Business Development Management person will be/have:

  • Degree in a related field of study would be great.
  • Proven sales record selling Industrial or Manufacturing products to multinationals.
  • You will consider yourself as a dynamic sales professional who is interested in building relationships and new business to our clients existing customers.
  • Selling at multi-national customers in either – (Pharma, Data Centres, Hospitals. Laboratories or Food & Beverage).
  • Open to making a transition from a product sale to a solution sale.
  • Previous experience in the filtration industry would be an advantage, however our client is happy to train and support in terms of technical areas or product knowledge.
  • Ability to manage and service accounts over a broad and diverse geographical area.
  • You will enjoy a hands-on, experienced ‘technical’ business leader with responsibilities ranging across traditional positions of Country Managers, Sales Representative, Business Development, and Product Management resources.
  • Excellent listening skills, yet without lacking in drive to move things forward.
  • Team player with an ability to work alongside Marketing, Product Management, Technical Support, and Manufacturing.
  • Desire experience in selling and supporting a value-added products.
  • Successful experience with high value-added product selling, pricing, negotiating, and channel management.
  • You will be comfortable working autonomously with support teams available.
  • Used to working remotely on region and travelling or virtually meeting multination customers.
